After finding or buying your precious or semiprecious stone you can polish it. There are a number of ways this can be done:

Polish the stones in a tumbler

Facet the stone

Polish the stone on flat lap

Polish the stone on a cabochon machine

I have recently purchased a second hand multi purpose polishing machine for Polishing cabochons. You can find these through a Gem club, Garage sales, Gem shows or new through a shop like KJ Thompson. On the machine I have, you can put a diamond saw, grinding wheels and polishing discs.
