Silver Smithing And Jewellery Making

Please Click On The Photo Below To See How To Make A Pendent..

Jewellery has been made for a long time. It has been made from many substances. Some materials used at present are as follows: Gold, Silver, Steel, Platinum, Nickel, Pewter, Copper, Titanium, Aluminium, Brass, Plastics, Wood, Bone, etc.
Some of the techniques used are: Forging, Casting, Pressing, Weaving, Fret work, Etching, etc. Basically Jewellery making is only limited by your own imagination.
Silver being relatively cheap to buy and work with is a good metal to start with. You can practise with lots of different techniques, soldering, etching, drilling, casting etc.
Titanium is also relatively cheap to buy. It is a very hard metal so you are limited to what you can do with it. When you heat titanium it will change colour. If used in conjunction with silver it can look very affective.

If you follow the link bellow you will see a small demonstration of a mermaid made with silver and titanium.
There are many books and magazines on making Jewellery. The web is also a very good source for ideas.
